First-year Live Oak High School band director Jason Locsin looked on as the forty-something-member Emerald Regime practiced drills at Richert Field on a recent Tuesday afternoon.
It was on this same field just a few years ago that Locsin, as a band student and Emerald Regime trumpet player, decided he wanted to be a band director. Locsin, 24, graduated from Live Oak in 2002, went on to earn a bachelor's degree in music education at San Jose State University and was hired in the summer as the school's band director.
In this video, we talk to Locsin and see the band in action.
