Morgan Hill Makos

Three Morgan Hill Makos swim team members reached the finals of the Far Western Championship meet held Thursday through Sunday in Morgan Hill.

Omar Insignares claimed three medals, finishing fifth in the 1,000 free, seventh in the 1,650 free and ninth in the 200 fly. Jarod Hatch also won three medals, finishing third in the 200 fly, fourth in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 individual medley. Brandon Pride was eighth in the 1,000 free.

The medals were presented to the swimmers by Scott William Weltz, a San Jose native who took fifth in the 200 breaststroke at the 2012 Olympics.

Others from the Makos program who qualified for the meet included Mary Hagins, Jacob Hatch, Mika Itow, Kylie Nguyen, Felix Sjolund and Macqueline Soliman.
