As the only Morgan Hill team in the Pony NorCal Central Region bracket, the Morgan Hill Mustang B team is in the driver’s seat to reach the sectional tournament with the Morgan Hill A squad.

The Mustangs went undefeated in three games, outscoring their opponents 25-7 to advance to Monday’s championship game against Blossom Valley B. Look online for the results of Monday’s game.

To reach the game, the Mustangs defeated Los Altos/Mountain View 14-3, Blossom Valley C 15-3 and Blossom Valley B 5-2.

Starting pitcher Pablo Causor and closer Colton Moorehead have been the pitching combination in nearly every game for the Mustangs, limiting opponents to 7 runs in three games. Will Waxman, Cooper Callison, Bradley Miller and Jordan Guary have been strong in the field for the Mustangs, supporting the pitching staff.

Moorehead, Causor, Alex Valdez, Waxman, Guary and Tyler Keenan lead the Mustang’s offensive attack, averaging 10 runs per game.

Pinto A

The Morgan Hill Pinto A team advanced to the semifinals of the Pony Central Region with a 10-0 win over Fremont Red on Sunday.

The win was the Pinto A’s second convincing shutout in a row. They opened the tournament with a 12-0 win over Blossom Valley No. 3 on Saturday.

In the win over Blossom Valley, the team combined for 14 hits. Pitchers Shane Callison, Dante Bellistri, Thomas Di Vittorio, Gabe Martinez and Mark Spohn combined for the shutout with each pitcher throwing one inning.

On Sunday, the Pinto A team combined for 11 hits in the four-inning victory over Fremont Red. Callison threw two innings of shutout baseball as Bellistri and Andrew Altmaier filled in on relief.

The A team will face Blossom Valley No. 1 at noon on July 4 at Britton Middle School in Morgan Hill.

Pinto B

The Pinto B team was eliminated from the regional tournament Sunday, losing to Blossom Valley No. 2 by a score of 3-2.

It was the second-consecutive loss to a Blossom Valley opponent for the Pinto B team. Morgan Hill opened the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Blossom Valley No. 1 on Saturday.

Bronco A

The Morgan Hill Bronco A team was eliminated in two games on Sunday, falling to South San Francisco 10-4. The Broncos opened the tournament with a heartbreaking 7-6 loss to Fremont on Saturday.

Bronco B

After losing the first game of the NorCal Central Region tournament 10-0 to Los Altos/Mountain View on Saturday, the Bronco B team stayed alive Sunday with a 13-2 victory over San Francisco Youth. The win propels the Broncos into a game with Fremont at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Britton Middle School in Morgan Hill. If Morgan Hill wins, they will move into the quarterfinals of the elimination bracket. They must win three-straight games to reach the championship game.
