Live Oak’s Amy Fearnside and Isabella Fernandez are three wins
from wrestling for a pair of Central Coast Section titles. They
were perfect after two rounds at the CCS Girls Championships on
Friday, receiving byes through the first round and winning by fall
in the second. They will return to Oak Grove High School on
Saturday along with teammate Christina Perea.

They were perfect after two rounds at the CCS Girls Championships on Friday, receiving byes through the first round and winning by fall in the second. They will return to Oak Grove High School on Saturday along with teammate Christina Perea, who is 2-1 at 118 pounds and vying to reach the third-/fourth-place match.

The tournament resumes at 10 a.m. Finals are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Fearnside (108 pounds), who pinned Alvarez’s Bryanna Curiel in 14 seconds in her only match Friday, is set to wrestle Ayleen Mehdizadeh of Branham.

Fernandez (114) will take on top seed Cady Chessin of Los Gatos. Friday Fernandez pinned Santa Teresa’s Leslie Castillo in 1:32.

Perea needed 38 seconds to pin Mariely Cen Gama of Mission–San Francisco in her opener, then lost by fall to Tatiana Almogela of Milpitas. Perea answered with a 4-1 victory over Galileo’s Tina Ozeki.

Amber Aochi, also of Live Oak, was eliminated after three matches at 122 pounds. She pinned North Salinas’ Karina Hill in her opener, then lost by fall to Ida Suarez of North Monterey County and Abigal Lopez-Gay of Scotts Valley.

The Acorns are 10th out of 47 teams with 21 points. Scotts Valley (33) is in first.
