SALINAS -- The Morgan Hill Junior Pee Wee Raiders lost 18-12 in the second round of the playoffs to the Hollister Vikings' Purple Team on Saturday at the Salinas Sports Complex.
The Raiders scored both of their touchdowns in the second half, bringing the Morgan Hill fans to their feet.
The 34-member team fought hard under the lights as they blocked three PAT attempts by the Vikings. Hollister scored on a punt return in the fourth quarter and kept the lead to close out the contest.
Morgan Hill coach Dave Knopf said, "The determination the boys showed in the last minutes of the game; never giving up, shows everyone the type of character this team had."
Knopf went on to say, "A Pop Warner board member mentioned to me that it had been 13 years since the last Junior Pee Wee team [from Morgan Hill] had made it to the second round of the playoffs.
"Everyone, team members, parents and coaches should be proud of what this team did this year."
