The Sobrato boy's basketball team cruised to 4-0 at Seaside High School.
Charley Bynum scored 17 points, and Rauley Cambra and Ryan Williams added 14 apiece, helping the Bulldogs stay perfect with a 60-49 victory Tuesday in nonleague play.
Bynum came close to a double-double with eight rebounds.
"We played well," Sobrato coach Lawrence Crawford said. "Charley shot the ball well and rebounded quite well. Rauley played an excellent game, too. He did a great job pushing the ball."
The Bulldogs spoiled opening night for the Spartans (0-1), who were outscored 24-12 in the first quarter. Sobrato led 36-27 at halftime.
"Our pressure defense worked well early," Crawford added. "We pressured the ball well. (Seaside) didn't handle it well, and we got some transition baskets. We thrive on our defense."
Sobrato's lead was cut to 40-39 by the end of the third quarter, but the Bulldogs finished strong with 20 points in the fourth.
"We had far too many turnovers in the third quarter," Crawford said. "We got ahead of ourselves. We were rushing things and didn't get good shots, but we finished the game strong."
Sobrato has a week off before traveling to Milpitas on Tuesday.
