MORGAN HILL -- The Bulldog Classic makes its third annual running Friday in Sobrato Gym, complete with one of its most challenging fields.
The 12-team dual tournament will feature CIF-Central Coast Section heavyweight programs, including Bellarmine and Archbishop Mitty. The rest of the field consists of Cupertino, Los Gatos, Santa Clara, Pioneer, Lincoln, Leigh, Leland, Gunderson, San Jose and tournament host Sobrato.
"It's the big dogs from around the area," Sobrato coach Phil Luna said Tuesday in a telephone interview. "It's a great early-season tournament."
Luna guided the Bulldogs to a first-place finish in the Classic in 2006, and a second-place finish last year. Sobrato will wrestle in the first wave of duals, beginning at 3 p.m. The tournament ends roughly at 10.
