GILROY -- The Gilroy Chaos' 12-and-under softball team won the Fall Ball State Championship Tournament last weekend, posting a perfect 5-0 record.
Gilroy outscored its opponents 34-11 and got solid pitching from Holly Lam and Raeanna Covarrubias, who totaled 20 and 10 strikeouts, respectively. They allowed no earned runs during opening wins against the Tracy Titans -- 8-2 -- and CA Bandits --5-0.
The Chaos followed with a 7-3 victory over the Manteca Unity, and a pair of wins versus the Vacaville Cruisers -- 8-4 and 6-2.
Mariza Rodriguez and Nicole Green combined for eight RBIs and several extra-base hits, and Jenae Estrada provided clutch hitting for Gilroy, which also got a triple and two RBIs from Victoria Vasquez and five complete games caught by catcher Mackenzie Mitchell.
The Chaos earned an invite to the July 2009 World Series in Seattle.
