MORGAN HILL -- The Morgan Hill Jr. Midget Raiders ended the regular season with a 14-12 win over the Sunnyvale Micro Rockets on Saturday, propelling the Raiders into the playoffs.
The Micro Rockets scored first and took a 6-0 lead into the half. Fired up, Morgan Hill pulled even in the third quarter with Trevor Bearden's 35-yard punt return for a touchdown.
The Raiders retook momentum with an 11-yard touchdown run by Drew Glines, which preceeded a Trenton Cisewski PAT to give Morgan Hill a 14-6 lead.
Other second-half highlights included back-to-back receptions by Dominic Maciel for 30 yards, four tackles and five assists by Kyle Quadros and Drew Glines' 139 yards rushing on 22 carries.
The fans were on the edge of their seats after Sunnyvale edged closer on a 68-yard touchdown pass with 1:39 remaining. The Raiders blocked the potential game-tying PAT, though, and held on for the victory.
