The Lady Bulldogs' ninth league victory was one of their most impressive.
Sobrato moved to 9-3 in Blossom Valley Athletic League-Santa Teresa Division play Thursday with a 7-0 triumph over Branham.
As usual, the Bulldogs dominated singles play. Alexa Watanabe defeated Jesse Cardoso 6-1, 6-2; Ali Pecsok ousted Samantha Ruivo 6-1, 6-2; Danielle Thanh defeated Monica Masiello in straight sets 6-0, 6-0; and Tina Ettmann beat Sweeny Youkhare 6-0. 6-1.
Sobrato showed little trouble taking all three doubles games. The Bulldogs top pair of sisters Sara and Katie Martin beat Sarai Mori and Cynthia Gomez 6-4, 6-1; and Amy Morimoto and Alyssa Warren topped the Bruins' No. 2 pair 6-0, 6-1. Sobrato's Allison Bettencourt and Lisa Fisher completed the sweep, besting Sombia Guerra and Emilyn Linden 6-3, 6-3.
Heading into the final week of league play, the Bulldogs can still tie for a division championship with help. Should Prospect upset first-place Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, Sobrato can pull even Thursday when the Bulldogs travel to Mount Pleasant for their regular-season finale.
Sobrato first has to get by the second-place Independence 76ers, who visit the Bulldogs at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Sobrato notched its eighth league win this past Tuesday against Yerba Buena.
The Bulldogs won 5-2, clinching the victory with another singles sweep. Watanabe beat Stephany Yaung 6-4, 6-4; Pecsok bested Jenny Huynh in straight sets; Thanh outlasted Jenny Ngo 7-5, 6-1; and Ettmann dominated Vanessa Duong 6-0, 6-1.
The Aztec Warriors took two doubles matches, but Sobrato got an insurance win by Bettencourt and Alisa Warren, who defeated Yen Bui and Helen Dao in three sets 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.
