MORGAN HILL -- The Morgan Hill Midget Raiders improved to 3-2 Saturday with a convincing 36-8 victory over the South Valley Grizzlies at Gunderson High School.
It was the third consecutive win for the Raiders, whose high-powered offense and stingy defense has helped Morgan Hill outscore its last three opponents 89-8.
Isaiah Quintana led the Raiders' offense Saturday, scoring a pair of touchdowns while rushing for 180 yards on 10 carries. Teammates Obi Mbonu carried four times for 140 yards, including a 72-yard touchdown run, and Jordan Lozada rushed for 33 yards on nine attempts. Raiders quarterback Frankie Castillo added a touchdown on a 1-yard keeper.
Morgan Hill punted once in the game.
Its defense got standout performances by Mitch Marcum, who totaled eight tackles, two fumble recoveries and a punt-block; Quintana, who had five tackles; and Reuben Magana, Marvin Abalos, Mbonu and Camarillo and Ryan Pereira, who made four tackles each. The Raiders defense scored two touchdowns off a recovered blocked punt by Steven Villareal and a fumble return by Lozada.
Morgan Hill hosts the Bay City Bulldogs at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center as part of a three-game home slate to end the season.

Raiders get first win of season
The Morgan Hill Jr. Midget Raiders came up short with a 24-22 loss against the South Valley Grizzlies last weekend at Gunderson High.
Trevor Bearden scored first for the Raiders in the first quarter with a 7-yard touchdown run. A successful PAT left an early score at 8-0.
An intercepted Raiders pass set up a South Valley touchdown, leaving Morgan Hill ahead 8-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Both offenses exploded for several scores in the second half. Despite Bearden's three touchdowns and two completed PATs, the Grizzlies prevailed.
The Jr. Midget Raiders fell to 4-1.

Raiders get first win of season
The Morgan Hill Jr. Pee Wee Raiders took down the South Valley Grizzlies 6-0 last Saturday to claim their first victory of the season.
After returning the opening kick-off to the 42-yard line, the Grizzlies fumbled two plays later and Morgan Hill capitalized. The Raiders' J.P. Miller took a pitch 35 yards for a touchdown - the game's only score.
As South Valley fought back through a day of sporadic downpours, the wild Raiders blanked the Grizzlies in the second half to preserve the shutout.
