They fell short of securing their program's first playoff berth, but Sobrato's seniors went out on a winning note - and further pushed Bulldogs' softball in the right direction.
Sobrato capped its first winning season with a 7-2 victory over Silver Creek on Friday, completing a 15-11 record (9-5 in Blossom Valley Athletic League play) a year after finishing 7-17.
The Bulldogs missed clinching their first CIF-Central Coast Section playoff berth by three wins.
"Things are looking bright for Sobrato softball," Bulldogs' coach Bob Clampett said. "It was still a good season."
Sobrato put Silver Creek away with the help of a solid start by pitcher Casey Post, who allowed two unearned runs on three hits in five innings. Teammate Danielle Clampett pitched a perfect final two innings to earn the save.
Post also led the Bulldogs' offensive, totaling three hits. Nicole Larson added two, and Janie Aylard one for Sobrato while playing sound defense at first base.
The Bulldogs graduate two seniors, Bob Clampett said.
"The girls are already getting excited," he added.
