This defensive battle was won with the help of Clayton Howard's scoreless five innings pitched. Howard struck out five batters and went 2-for-3 batting with an RBI. Teammate Ty Gardner went 2 for 2 with an RBI and one run.
The Diamondbacks' Jimmy Hagan was 2 for 2 and scored his team's only run. Hunter Sutton allowed two runs in four innings pitched and provided a 2-for-4 effort at the plate.
Tigers 14, White Sox 6
The Tigers totaled their fourth straight victory with great pitching and productive hitting. Kody Root went 4 for 4 with two doubles, and teammates Aaron Armijo, Robert Driscal and Pete Athans each batted 2 for 4. Ryan Mason pitched five innings for the win, fanning five and allowing two earned runs.
Giants 9, Athletics 8
The Giants' Muller and Pasek combined for three earned runs, and the Athletics' Joey Rodriguez went 2 for 4 and scored once.

The Reds' Hunter Kirk pitched four innings, striking out eight and allowing one run. Garrison Grisedale threw two strong innings and went 2 for 4.
The Yankees scored one run in the fourth but were stopped from any more when Jarrod Cerneglia threw a runner out stealing second base.
Giants 11, White Sox 2
Behind solid pitching from Taylor Pullen, Rob Yamat and Jacob Jud, the Giants extended their win streak to three. Offensively, the Giants were led by Ben Hagiperos, who had a pair of hits, and Domenic Zanotto, who drove in runs on two hits.
The White Sox got on the board in the fifth inning with Gus Rubio's RBI-single, scoring Danny Medaglia. Teammate Zach Clinger made two unassisted put-outs.
Marlins 8, Angels 2
Marlin pitchers Brandon Cressi, Bryan Freitas and the defense limited the Angels' powerful offense. Cressi got the win with three strikeouts, Freitas the save. Blair Murphy and Freitas scored twice; Patrick Muller and Cressi doubled and scored, and Ian McGowan singled and scored.
For the Angels, Sean Aitken batted 2 for 3, and Andrew Wilcox hit an run-scoring double. Ben Hughes singled, walked and scored, and Garrett Taylor hit an RBI-single and crossed home.
Athletics 12, D'Backs 11
This thriller went eight innings with the A's prevailing. The Athletics' Justin Gerard had a two-run single to put his team ahead, and Dylan Kral finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Kral scored three times and collected three RBIs. Teammate Adam Belluomini went 5 for 5 and scored twice, Jesse Lares 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Mike Jarvis went 3 for 4.
The Diamondbacks' Mitch Crowley started the scoring spree with a solo home run. He three RBIs with a 4-for-4 batting effort. Teammate Mikey McKague drove in two runs, and Nick Blocker went 2 for 4 and drove in one run. Austin Heiser, Patrick Gustafson, Campi and Crowley combined for three double plays.
Giants 13, Indians 8
The Giants were without two key players but prevailed thanks to five strong innings from Rob Yamat. He struck out seven and allowed one run. The Giants' Josh Alaniz had two hits and drove in four runs, while Anthony Beltramo totaled a pair of hits and two runs. Teammate Ben Hagiperos had three hits and three runs.
Reds 8, White Sox 2
The Reds' were fueled by three runs from Jarrod Cernigla, who went 3 for 4. Nick Giordano also went 3 for 4 with a triple and crossed home three times. Danny Ginther drove in two runs on a timely single, and Garrison Grisedale struck out six batters in relief, also for the Reds.
The White Sox scored their runs in the second inning - one on an RBI-single by Sam Raney, who pitched a solid game. The White Sox stranded several runners and got good support from catcher Mike Porras, who threw out two potential base stealers.
Angels 8, Tigers 6
The Angels held off a late Tigers' rally. The Angels' Ben Hughes pitched five strong innings, striking out six for the win, and Garrett Taylor picked up a rare two-inning save. Hughes doubled twice, going 3 for 3, and provided three runs and two RBIs. Teammate Asa Jacob scored twice, and Sean Aitken and Andrew Wilcox singled and drove in two runs.
The Tigers' Morgan Brum reached in all four plate appearances and totaled three hits and an RBI. Teammate Cole Griffen tripled, singled and scored twice, and Brandon Duran cranked a run-scoring single. Steve Marquez and Joshua Priest reached three times with Marquez driving in a run.
Athletics 11, Marlins 6
Adam Belluomini led the Athletics' offense with a 4-for-4 effort, including two doubles plus three runs and two RBIs. Steven Facio went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Matthew Bellah went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Justin Gerard clubbed a two-run double. On the hill, Belluomini surrendered no runs in five innings.
The Marlins' Patrick Muller struck out five, batted 1 for 2 and scored twice.
