Morgan Hill Pony Baseball results

Scoring came in bunches last weekend as teams broke the 10-run mark 11 times, including a 25-run output by the Pony Division Giants.



Scores and highlights:



PONY DIVISION



Giants 16, Angels 8

Tommy Naranjo of the Giants scored two runs, A. Bueno scored three, and Ty Gardner finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Gardner reached base in four of his five plate appearances and provided three runs.



Giants 25, Tigers 10

The Giants scored six runs in the first, sending 11 men to the plate. Andy Mller struck out three batters in as many innings, and scored four runs along with teammate Clayton Howard. The Giants' Jonah Guary crossed home five times and Tyler Pederson scored three times.

For the Tigers, Johnny Bueno, A. Styczynski and Sean Schlaefli each scored twice.



D'Backs 9, White Sox 6

D'Backs 9, Athletics 7



BRONCO DIVISION



Tigers 15, Marlins 5

The Tigers scored five runs in the first inning and protected the lead with strong pitching from Brandon Lozada, Cole Griffen, Jesse Howser and Steve Marquez. Teammate Joshua Priest homered twice, drive in five runs and finished 4 for 4 at the plate.



Giants 8, D'Backs 6

Taylor Pullen pitched four innings for the Giants and did not allow an earned run. Teammate Domenic Zanotto turned two double plays and Wes Guild, Taylor Pullen and Damian Phelan executed a perfect relay to nail a runner at third base.



Angels 7, Reds 6

For the Angels, Zack Hughes drove in three runs on two clutch hits. Garrett Taylor went 3 for 4 with an RBI, Jeremy Urdiales batted 2 for 3 and scored, Asa Jacob reached three times and scored. Teammate Sean Aitken singled and doubled with an RBI and a run. Aitken got the win, striking out seven batters in five innings.

For the Reds, Garrison Grisedale went 2 for 3 with three runs and Josiah Liardon batted 2 for 4. Brent Bottomley and Hunter Kirk singled and crossed home and Jarrod Cerniglia scored. Kirk pitched three solid innings, and Trevor Baisley made a run-saving catch in center field.



Yankees 10, White Sox 7

John Austin, Sean Martin and Mark Quinby pitched well for the Yankees with Quinby adding two triples offensively. Austin and Colton Boulware both singled three times.

For the White Sox, Brandon Sorce singled and scored three runs Josh Maese added a two-run base hit. Teammate Jared Gunsky singled and scored for the White Sox.

Starting pitcher Mark Porras tallied six strikeouts.



Indians 9, Athletics 4

Trenton Cisewski led the Indians with a two-run home run and a double. Bradley Higgins and Alejandro Torres both added two RBIs and Jack Affourtit and J.T. Miller drove in one run apiece. Torres struck out nine batters.

For the Athletics, Matt Jarvis batted 3 for 4 with a double, Steve Facio had an RBI-double; and Mike Jarvis and Adam Belluomini drove in runs.

Dylan Kral added a solo home run.



D'Backs 9, White Sox 8

The Diamondbacks held off a late charge by the White Sox. Pitcher Austin Crowley almost worked a complete game. Blake Porzio went 5 for 5 at the plate and Patrick Gustafson had two run-scoring singles.

The White Sox rallied for four runs in the seventh, coming on Mike Porras' three-run home run and a RBI by Josh Maese. Teammate Jared Gunsky finished 4 for 4.



Reds 13, Tigers 2

The Reds came out firing, but the Tigers' Morgan Brum managed two scoreless innings on the hill. Teammate Brandon Duran surrendered one run across the final two.



Athletics 8 Angels 4

Dylan Kral paced the Athletics with a 4-for-4 effort at the plate, three runs and an RBI. Jesse Lares added drove in three runs on two hits, and Adam Belluomini knocked home two runs on two hits. Manny Luna went 2 for 3 and scored two runs; and Kral and Belluomini combined for a dozen strikeouts.

For the Angels, Elijah Varada and Ben Hughes both went 2 for 3 and scored. Garrett Taylor pitched three innings and struck out six.



MUSTANG DIVISION



Yankees 16, Dodgers 5

The Dodgers had a balanced attack, getting two hits from eight of their 11 players. Ronnie Salinas went 4 for 4. Justin Cong had two singles and four RBIs.



Tigers 7, Marlins 1

Mets 9, Angels 8

Giants 7, White Sox 6

A's 10, Reds 1

Indians 7, Cardinals 6

A's 8, Yankees 7

Cardinals 13, Reds 11

Mets 12, Giants 6

Indians 8, Angels 5



Player of The Week:

This week's Player of the Week is Joshua Priest of the Bronco Division Marlins. Priest accounted for all five of his team's runs, batting 4 for 4 with two home runs.
