    Happy 234th Birthday Marine Corps.

    Today, Nov. 10, is the 234th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. Older than the nation it helps to defend, on Nov. 10, 1775, the Continental Congress resolved that two battalions of American Marines "be inlisted (sp) and commissioned to serve for and during the present war between Great Britain and the colonies." Capt. Samuel Nichols was commissioned the first Marine Corps officer.
