CRC patron finds marijuana at facility

Someone found a jar of marijuana inside the Centennial Recreation Center, at 171 W. Edmundson Ave., and turned the drugs over to police for destruction, according to police reports.

The incident was reported about 10:21 a.m. Monday.

Idling car stolen from residential driveway

Someone stole a 2011 Honda CRV just moments after the vehicle’s owner started the car to warm it up Thursday morning, police reported.

The owner of the vehicle called police about 7:48 a.m. Thursday and said the car had been stolen about five to 10 minutes earlier, according to police reports.

The vehicle was stolen from just outside the owner’s residence at St. Timothy Place, police said.

The resident determined through security camera footage that someone driving a small black sport-utility vehicle dropped off the car thief who entered the idling CRV, and both vehicles took off in an unknown direction, police said.

Police respond to recent auto burglaries

Police have responded to a number of vehicle burglaries in Morgan Hill the last few days, with victims reportedly losing a purse and stereo equipment, among other items to the theft.

On Jan. 29, Morgan Hill police reported at least two vehicle break-ins - one on the 500 block of San Pedro Avenue and one on the 100 block of Mathilda Court - that likely occurred sometime during the previous night. The two locations are just south of downtown Morgan Hill near Monterey Road.

Earlier, on Jan. 26 an incident was reported in which a Chevrolet 2500 work van was broken into sometime the previous night and tools and tool belts were stolen, police said.
