Nobody from South County was appointed to the Santa Clara County 2012-2013 Civil Grand Jury, according to a press release from the Santa Clara County Superior Court.

The 19 members of the grand jury were sworn in June 21. Judge Richard Loftus, Jr., named Steven McPherson of Los Altos as the foreman for the year. Loftus served on the 2011-2012 civil grand jury.

The judge appointed two other members from last year’s grand jury to this year’s session - Lyn Johnson of Los Gatos and Lois G. Weil of Sunnyvale.

The Civil Grand Jury is the county’s watchdog agency, the press release said. It has the authority to examine all aspects of county and city government, school districts and special districts. It also has the ability to inspect local adult and juvenile detention facilities.

The new Civil Grand Jury members will serve until June 2013.
