Update: A very narrow, fast-moving band of rain has hit South County in the late Wednesday afternoon, although it is not expected last much longer, according to National Weather Service Forecaster Bob Benjamin.
“It’s a very narrow band of heavier rain that we weren’t quite anticipating,” Benjamin said. “Once this gets through, we expect everything to get back on track.”
Benjamin added the band of heavy rain is 10-15 miles wide.
Santa’s sleigh won’t have any trouble reaching South County this holiday season, as only very light rain is expected Christmas Eve, according to National Weather Service Forecaster Steve Anderson.
“We have a chance of very light rain (Dec. 24), just enough to wet the road,” Anderson said.
Those wanting to track Santa’s path on Christmas Eve can do so by visiting noradsanta.org or santatracker.google.com.
However, once the presents are unwrapped, children can play with their new toys outside with clear skies and moderate temperatures in the high 50s expected for Christmas Day, Anderson noted.
The sunny skies will stick around for the rest of the holiday weekend with highs in the 60s, according to Anderson.
