Sheriff's arrests
Under the influence of a controlled substance


Celeste Rene Waldrip, 46, of Gilroy, 10:35 a.m. Oct. 18, near Travel Park Circle and Monterey Road.

Javier Tapia Pozas, 33, transient, 1:38 a.m. Oct. 13, near Old Gilroy and Alexander streets.

Drunk in public

Salvador Mendosa, 34, transient, 10 a.m. Oct. 17, near Chestnut Street and Bane Lane.

Possession of methamphetamine

Michael John Garza, 26, of Gilroy, and Teresa Zabala, 25, of Gilroy, 3:05 a.m. Oct. 12, near Monterey Road and Welburn Avenue.

Francisco Rodriguez, 20, of San Martin, 11 p.m. Oct. 12, on the 12000 block of Foothill Avenue in San Martin.



Other sheriff's incidents
Residential burglary


A Smith & Wesson .22 caliber handgun, jewelry and cash totaling $4,950 was stolen from a residence on the 17000 block of Holiday Drive in Morgan Hill, between 6 a.m. Oct. 9 and 10 p.m. Oct. 18. The thief entered through an unlocked garage door and then forced entry into another door.

Grand theft

An unlocked mint green BMX bike with a back tire missing a spoke was stolen from a convenience store on the 13300 block of Depot Street in San Martin, between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17.

One hundred and twenty bales of hay valued at $600 were stolen from a field near Monterey Road and Church Avenue in San Martin, between 12 p.m. Oct. 11 and 9 a.m. Oct. 12.

An orange horse saddle with silver buckles worth $500, power tools, cameras and auto parts were stolen from a farm on the 13100 block of Chaparral Road in Morgan Hill, between 8 a.m. Sept. 19 and 12 p.m. Oct. 11. Police suspect a 42-year-old Michigan man.

Theft of motorcycle

A black 1997 BMW 1100 GS motorcycle was stolen from the 13100 block of Chaparral Road in Morgan Hill, between 8 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. Sept. 20. Police suspect a 42-year-old Michigan man.

Recovered stolen vehicle

A 2001 white trailer reported stolen out of Gilroy was found abandoned in a parking lot near Bolsa and Monterey roads, 11:50 a.m. Oct. 15.

Vandalism

A 38-year-old Morgan Hill man hit his girlfriend's green 2000 Nissan Quest with a metal pipe, scratching the vehicle and causing about $200 in damage, near Sycamore and San Martin avenues in San Martin, 11:15 p.m. Oct. 13. The girlfriend does not want to press charges but reported the crime to prove a point to her boyfriend. Deputies submitted the report for district attorney review.

Vehicle burglary

A man's stereo system was stolen from a blue 1990 Ford Mustang on the 9400 block of Murray Road, between 9:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and 8 a.m. Oct. 13. The victim's rims were also stolen from a separate vehicle.
