Maryellen Rodriguez becomes emotional as she talks on the phone after coming back to her home that was burned in a fire late last month. Firefighters piled up all the furniture up behind her to clear it out of the way as they worked. Rodriguez bought her townhome in 1987.
The Crossmans were the family renting one of the more damaged townhomes in the Sorrel fire. The community -particularly their church members - have rallied behind them, setting up a Web site and putting together a registry of items they need replaced. The Crossmans are busy in their Gilroy apartment sorting salvaged items from their Sorrel home and donated items from the Web site - art could be of that.
2. Exit exams released Tuesday
The final California High School Exit Exam results will be in Tuesday. Preliminary estimates released in June showed 32 Morgan Hill Unified School District seniors hadn't passed. Passing the exam, which tests competency in English-language arts and mathematics, is a California graduation requirement for all public school high school students. What do these results mean?
