Gilroy police arrest two in connection with drive-by shooting
Police have arrested two "validated" gang members in connection with the drive-by shooting at the Burger King on Leavesley Road Sunday afternoon, according to Gilroy Police Department Sgt. Chad Gallicinao.
Less than half an hour after an admitted Sure'o gang member showed up at Saint Louise Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, a police officer observed Jonathan Jesus Hernandez, 19, and Everardo Lalo Valdovinos, 19, running southbound on the U.S. 101 access road behind the fast-food restaurant.
Sheriff's deputies intercepted the two at the dead-end of IOOF Avenue, which sits downhill from the freeway about half a mile south of Burger King. Hernandez had a loaded handgun at the time of his arrest, and Valdovinos had methamphetamine and an outstanding no-bail warrant for failing to appear in court after an earlier driving under the influence arrest, Gallicinao said.
