A 69-year-old Hollister man was killed Sunday afternoon when he apparently lost control of his vehicle on U.S. 101 south of Coyote Creek Golf Drive.
By presstime, the man's identity had not been released. A representative of the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office said the identification had not yet been confirmed.
The man was driving south on the freeway shortly before 4 p.m. when he lost control, and his vehicle went off the road into the dirt center median. It then veered back onto the roadway, as he may have tried to gain control, but he may have overcorrected, and the vehicle flipped over. He was wearing a seatbelt, but received fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
No alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, according to California Highway Patrol officer Brad Voyles.
