One teenager was injured during a fight Saturday afternoon at Galvan Park, but all the participants ran away before officers arrived.
A 17-year-old male was taken to Saint Louise Regional Hospital for treatment for a head injury after he was hit with a baseball bat during the fight, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing.
No arrests were made, and officers were unable to determine if there were others who were injured in the incident.
At approximately 3 p.m., officers responded to the park between Crest Avenue and Hale Avenue after reports that there were 15-20 Norteños and Sureños fighting with baseball bats.
Officers were unable to find any gang members, but did talk to a few people in the area, Swing said, including the injured teen. He did not provide officers with much information, he said.
"Unfortunately, it is uncommon to find a gang member who is willing to cooperate," he said. "Usually, they are willing to settle things at a later date. All that does is perpetuate the violence. Fortunately, we do get information through the community, from someone who lives in the area, someone who had seen the fight, someone who has had enough. Someone who has had enough of the violence, had enough of their kids being scared."
