Updated: March 15, 2015 - 4:40 pm

This is quite simply the most difficult edition of The Flavor Chronicle I have ever written. My grandmother, the person I attribute with teaching me how to cook and my muse behind many of my columns, passed away a few weeks ago. There have been so many memories flooding back to my mind these past few weeks, many of which have been food-related memories. I want to share a few of those memories and one of my grandma’s recipes, which every grandmother of Italian heritage holds close to her heart.

Polenta, comfort foods a good pair
Updated: February 23, 2015 - 10:00 am

Homemade cranberry sauce is the way to go
Posted: November 14, 2014

When it comes to the Thanksgiving meal, I always encourage that whenever possible, it be made completely from scratch. This is a philosophy I have attempted to instill in the readers of my column going as far back as my "Mixed Grill" days. It should come as no surprise that once again this year, I will champion another side dish you should be making yourself instead of purchasing. This week, I feature two of my own cranberry sauces, which are sure to become a new family tradition.
