Take these four steps and engage with God
    Jan 5, 2008
     By Jeff Holmes

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched ...

God has engaged us - from the beginning and right up to the very moment - God is engaging us, inviting us to participate in His Movement. The question is, will we engage ourselves to be transformed?

Will you engage? Will you take the opportunity and live in this moment? Will you be engaged in God's love - in His purposes - in the life you've always wanted?

Engage, God has ... God is ... will you?

As we look forward to 2008 we here at Gilroy Presbyterian would like you to consider taking these next four steps to engaging with God.

    Step In

All of us are engaged in a journey - engaged with something nudging us to a place where God might live. Here at GPC we're living with God and finding that He has answers to the questions that brought us here. We invite you to join the conversation with us and move from anonymity into community.

    Reach Up

Our journey inevitably leads us to look for something greater than ourselves - something outside of us, above us. When we reach up in worship we find that God is there. And then, we find that God reaches back to touch our hearts with love, conviction, passion, gentleness and forgiveness. As we gather together to worship, God engages us, and meets our deepest need to be connected with Him and other people on the journey.

    Dig In

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Do we linger in the hallway where we can only smell the great food at the table? Or do we journey into the kitchen and take a seat at the table? If you're ready for more - to take a bigger bite - to experience the abundance of God, join together in a committed journey with a few other people. Study God's Word, pray together and dig in to the depths of God's love, wisdom and holiness as you live the life of a disciple.

    Step Up

There is a thirsty world out there - thirsty for hope, life, health, peace and justice. That which drew us inside on our journey towards God is drawing us outside to make an impact in our world. God is at work within us, engaging us to engage with the poor, the orphans and the widows of the world-the world both near and far. There's a movement afoot at GPC to step up and come alongside to comfort, love and help our neighbors in need.
