Business Briefs: Agent wins best blog
    Dec 8, 2008

    Agent wins best blog

Real estate professionals working in luxury home markets gathered to see how their marketing techniques compare to the best in the business at Leaders in Luxury (LIL), an invitation only networking symposium for upper-tier realtors held in Miami in October of this year.

LIL is hosted annually by The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing (ILHM), the premier training and membership organization for luxury home real estate professionals internationally: www.LuxuryHomeMarketing.com.

Aaron Wheeler of Morgan Hill and President of Oakville Properties (www.oakvilleproperties.net), with offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Las Vegas, was recognized at LIL as the national award winner for Best Agent Blog. Wheeler's entry was chosen by an advertising agency executive from Dallas-based Brand Agent and judged on the quality, creativity, and appropriateness for the luxury niche.

    South County Housing receives $50K

Citi Foundation recently awarded $50,000 to South County Housing to help better educate low-income and moderate-income buyers so they are ready to purchase a home when they are built.

"We have the same commitment to the success of homebuyers as we do to building quality housing," said Dennis Lalor, CEO of South County Housing. "Citi Foundation's grant will help us provide financial education to low and moderate income buyers so they are ready to purchase a home when South County Housing completes construction." Each participant receives services individually tailored to build their credit, manage their debt and institute savings for a down payment on a home.

Each participant receives services individually tailored to build their credit, manage their debt and institute savings for a down payment on a home.

Despite the current foreclosure crisis, there is still a demand for affordable new housing. Lalor points to SCH's newest development, Madrone Plaza, in Morgan Hill. Twenty-two homes were already under contract before the grand opening. The Association of Bay Area Governments projects that 1,619 units of housing are needed for very low, low and moderate income families through the year 2014 to accommodate growth in the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill.

Several evenings a month, South County Housing offers affordable housing orientation classes in Spanish and English.
