Dear Red Phone,

“It is my understanding that city ordinance allows that homeowners only have their RVs parked in front of their homes for 48 hours, who do I contact if my neighbor has had his out there for over a week now?”

Dear RV-frustrated,

Yep, when the the neighbors park the big hog RV on the street and think that’s hunky dory, it ain’t. Besides taking up all the street parking, the “Big Mamas” are an eyesore after a while and can block the view on corners, etc. That’s why the city law is this, according to the folks who enforce it: “City Code states that oversized vehicles, which most RVs fall under, can only be parked on a city street for two days in a two-week period. RVs should be stored off the city streets.” So, if the neighbor isn’t approachable for a neighborly chat – and that’s always a good first step – then do call the city at (408) 846-0320 and get the problem taken care of.
